Beadwork

Native American Indians produced some of most beautiful beadwork, incorporating beads into various articles of clothing and baskets. The Plateau Indians for instance produced beautiful beaded sashes and bags. Some of the California tribes like the Paiutes and Washoe would cover a basket completely with miniature, colorful beads. Other tribes like the Pomo Indians would adorn their baskets with beaded dangles of clamshells, abalone, and dentaliums (scaphopod mollusks).
