Kawaiisu

The Kawaiisu Indians live in the Tehachapi Valley of southern California and in the Tehachapi pass of the southern Sierra Nevada mountains.

The Kawaiisu used twining and coiling techniques for their baskets. They used split and sized willow for wefts, and unsplit willow for warps in twining. In coiling, the Kawaiisu used many different roots for coiling depending on what color they wanted.
