Washoe

The Sierra Nevada Mountains and Great Basin were the areas the nomadic Washoe Indians lived in . As food resources and seasons changed, the Washoe moved on eventually settling around the Lake Tahoe region. The Washoe are also considered as part of the Great Basin Indians.

Washoe basketry was very popular and gave rise to a movement some call "Washoe Fancy Basketry" and promoted the close-stitched degikup style.
