Panamint
The Panamint Indians inhabited the eastern base of the Sierra Nevada and Coso mountains, Panamint Valley and East Nevada. They resided to the northeast of what is now Bakersfield, California.
The Panamint used twining and coiling methods for their basketry. They were made from strands or wefts of willow, or more rarely, of sumac on shoots of willow. The Panamint Indians often decorated their baskets with butterflies, birds, snakes, geometric shapes, and other characters.
